MELA House is female-run and that's deliberate, we wanted a space that feels safe and unintimidating, especially for people getting their first tattoo. Our resident team is all women.

Our studio minimum is $250 AUD. That covers setup, sterile equipment and the artist's time, so it applies even to the tiniest piece, a small dot and a full palm-sized design can land at the same price. Anything above the minimum is quoted based on size, detail and placement.

Best to contact your preferred artist directly or emailing (info@melatatt.com), tell us what you're after, reference images, placement, rough size. We'll come back to you with availability and a quote. Once you've paid your deposit we'll start on the design, and you'll see it either at your appointment or a day or two before if you request. Custom pieces book out roughly 3-4 weeks ahead.

Yes, for a $50 fee, either in the studio or over a video call. Best for larger or more involved pieces where you want to talk it through before committing. Your consult fee will then be credited towards your tattoo appointment if you decide to book with us.

Yes. Matching tattoos, birthdays, a friend who needs peer pressure. We can run 3-6 people through in a session. Email us at info@melatatt.com with how many of you there are and what you're thinking and we'll work out timing.

Some settling is normal in the first few weeks, skin sheds and things soften, and it often looks better than you think once it's fully healed. Wait until you're at least 6 weeks post-appointment, then send us a photo and we'll sort you out. Touch-ups within 2 months are complimentary. Fine line is delicate by design, so a little fading over time is part of the deal.

We do. We've done brand activations, launches and private events around Melbourne. Flash tattooing on the day is the usual format, a set menu of small designs guests can pick from. Fill out our enquiry form via House Events tab with your date, location and rough guest numbers for a quote.

Yes, we host guests year-round. Send through your portfolio or Instagram, the dates you're in Melbourne and roughly how long you'd want, via Guest Tab. We'll send back our guest artist info sheet with rates, what we provide and what you'll need to bring. We book 2 months ahead so the earlier the better.
